Health & Social Care

Students in Key Stage 4 can study for a Level 2 Technical Award in Health & Social Care

What will my child's learning be like in Health & Social Care?

Students will have the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills in sector specific areas. Each unit has core knowledge and concepts that are explored through the use of case studies and theories. Classes have a practical element in which learners will study and explore how to meet the needs of a service user. They will also develop the skills to apply the care values that underpin all of health and social care.

Students who study health and social care develop core knowledge and understanding of human growth and development, dealing with life events, different types of health and social care services, and different roles and careers.

What are we aiming to achieve in the Health & Social Care department?

Demand for health and social care is more than likely to rise, and the need for well trained staff in vital roles will increase. Health care roles account for almost 1 in 10 of all paid jobs in the UK. There are approximately 3 million people who work in health and social care roles, ranging from doctors to midwives, to healthcare assistants and social workers. The qualification will provide learners with an introduction to topics, issues and legislation that are important to be aware of when working in health and social care setting.
